TRPMA is very honoured to invite Ms Lei Chuang, the Associate Director of the Global Project Management Group of Eisai, Inc./ Morphotek, Inc., to continue her talk in the 2016 Drug Development Symposium about drug development strategies.

Ms Chuang gave a detailed introduction of the business models and development strategies of drug development. As a trend, the A to Z life cycle of a drug product has become a collaborative project involving various companies which share risks as well as profits. Therefore, it is an important task for drug companies to find a suitable business partner and to find common grounds for reaching agreements.

Ms Chuang shared her experiences in international collaboration projects and analysed the pros and cons of different collaboration models, including in-licensing, out-licensing and co-development. She also reminded the audience of the things needing to be addressed when conducting business development meetings and carrying out due diligence process.

Finally, Ms Chuang mentioned the key elements of drug development: technology, marketing, IP and regulatory. She explained in details the fast track review mechanisms and IP planning strategies. She encouraged drug companies in Taiwan to go global by finding a suitable international partner.
