Taiwan: TRPMA and SAA introduce training course for biopharmaceutical industry analysts

2016/12/20

The course is organized jointly by TRPMA and SAA. The course structure is designed based on similar trainings in other countries. The course targets on professionals with medical or life-science background, and will provide them trainings in four major areas: new drug R&D, finance, biotech investment and company management. The course will focus on theories and cases studies. It will be the first of its kind in Taiwan.

Su Song-Chin, the President of SAA, expressed that biotech industry is the most promising industry. However, it is subject to many regulations in the capital market. If biotech companies are not familiar with those regulations, they might make inadvertent mistakes. This course aims to improve the understanding of both the biotech industry and the financial market.

Chang Hong-Jen, the Vice Chairman of TRPMA, pointed out that the biotech industry in Taiwan is supported by the government. The profession is very different from that of the financial industry. The purpose of this course is to link these two professions together so that the biotech industry can receive the full support from the financial market.

Cheng Hsin, the COO of TRPMA, expressed that the course organizers have invited Prof. Wu Sou-Shan, the Executive Director of SAA, to be the advisor to the course. The course will run three consecutive years and offer trainings to about 100 students. Each student has to complete 150 hours of training. The course will start near the end of February, 2017, said Cheng Hsin.

Industry heavyweights, including Chang Hong-Jen (Vice Chairman of TRPMA), Gu Man-Chin (President of Savior Lifetech), Chen Cheng (General Manager of Genovate Biotech), Bertil Lindmark (Marketing Director of ASLAN), will be invited to give talks in the first week of the training course. The enrolment takes place from today until January 20, 2017. More details are available from the course website (http://www.trpma.org.tw/BAP/)
