Chang Hong-Jen, Vice Chairman of TRPMA, expressed that the BioIPSeeds will provide a platform to match up the industry and the researchers through sharing research results. It will accelerate product development, patent planning, authorization and technology transfer. It will also showcase Taiwan’s bio R&D capacity. The BioIPSeeds sets a milestone in the global trend of open innovation. TRPMA and DTCO will plan a global launch of this blockchain-based platform service in the future.
Jacob Lee, the CEO of DTCO, expressed that blockchain technology is the fourth industrial revolution as it can create and circulate asset value. Lee expressed that the development of blockchain service is a global war as it involves financial and non-financial sectors and has a broad range of applications, from industries to personal healthcare. The western countries are adept at winning capital wars in order to set industrial standards. The healthcare industry in Taiwan definitely has the potential to lead the world and establish the standard of applying blockchain technology in biopharmaceutical industry. The BioIPSeeds is the first application of this kind.
Ms Carol Cheng, the COO of TRPMA, expressed that the BioIPSeeds is a decentralized trusted P2P platform which applies blockchain technology in IP notary, data authorization and data traceability. She believes this platform will attract the academia to share their research results and, hence, accelerate communication with the industry and speed up product development. The BioIPSeeds will include research results of small molecule drugs, biologics, botanicals, medical devices, testing agents and technologies as IP seeds. This platform has already been developed and the Si2C will help test the platform. It will be officially online in late August. Ms Cheng expressed that the BioIPSeeds will be a “real-name system” in order to verify member’s qualification.
