Taiwan: Taiwan and Germany signed medical cooperation agreement

2015/10/15

The TFDA has been working hard to promote international medical cooperation. After signing similar agreements with the EU, Australia, Austria and Japan, Taiwan reached another milestone. Officials from the Taipei Representative Office in Germany attended the signing ceremony and organized a tea party to celebrate this event.

Taiwan has been engaged in joint medical review with other countries through the International Generic Drug Regulators Program (IGDRP). The interaction with regulators in Germany has been intensive. Various official visits, conferences and industrial consultation seminars were organized in the past few years.

This cooperation agreement will enhance the exchange of non-public and exclusive information about drugs, APIs and medical devices, and, as a result, encourage cooperation projects.

Looking into the future, Taiwan and Germany will increase and widen the communication in regulatory issues based on this cooperation agreement. For Taiwan, it will help Taiwanese pharmaceutical manufacturers to expand their overseas markets; and for Germany, it will help increase the management capacity and expedite the launch of new products in both Taiwan and Germany.
