Workshop: Ten years promoting high-quality scientific research in paediatric medicines

2018/04/25

The European Network of Paediatric Research at the European Medicines Agency (Enpr-EMA) will hold its tenth annual workshop on 7–8 June 2018 at the European Medicines Agency (EMA). The annual workshop brings relevant stakeholders together to discuss requirements, barriers and opportunities for the conduct of high-quality clinical studies in children. The overall theme of this year’s workshop will be a ‘holistic approach to paediatric research’. Enpr-EMA is a network of research networks, investigators and centres with recognised expertise in performing clinical studies in children. It counts forty six member networks from Europe, Canada, Japan and the United States. Its main objective is to facilitate studies in order to increase the availability of medicines authorised for use in children. The first day of the workshop will be open to all stakeholders including patient/parent organisations, regulators, Enpr-EMA network representatives, academia, clinical investigators and representatives from pharmaceutical industry for paediatric studies. Participants will hear about the latest developments of Enpr-EMA’s activities to foster high-quality research in the area of paediatric medicine. Among the highlights of this year’s workshop are: ● short perspectives of the various stakeholders involved in paediatric research (patient/young people advisory groups, research networks, learned societies, national paediatric associations/societies, ethics committees, regulators, HTA bodies and industry); ● an interactive general discussion on how to avoid duplication of trials, how to improve communication, how to divide work between groups and on the challenges of clinical trials in (ultra) rare diseases. The second day of the workshop is reserved for discussions among the members of Enpr-EMA and its coordinating group. The coordinating group will define priority tasks for 2018–19 based on the feedback received from stakeholders. Individuals interested in attending the first day of the workshop are invited to send a completed registration form to [email protected] before 28 May 2018. More Information On EMA
