TRPMA was honoured to invite Mr Zhuo Yong Qing, the Senior Advisor of the RDPAC, to give a talk on the topic of “Creating the Drug Innovation Ecosystem - Enlightenment from the Changes in China in Recent Years”. Mr Zhuo briefed the audience on the Chinese government’s determination and efforts in pharmaceutical regulatory reforms. He also explained the measures adopted by the Chinese government.

Innovation is one of the Chinese government’s national development strategies which include the development of health technology. The government aims to promote China as one of the innovation countries in 2020, to become one of the leading innovation countries in 2030, and to lead the world in 2050. Since the No. 44 Announcement issued in 2015, a series of pharmaceutical regulatory reforms have been implemented. The relevant policies were developed from the concept of encouraging new drug R&D. The government is also keen to create an innovation ecosystem, covering the aspects of political environment, human resources and capitals with a view to boosting the quality and quantity of new drug innovation.

Mr Zhou also analysed the drafts issued by the CFDA for public comments from March 2017 onwards. Mr Zhou pointed out that the CFDA is now collating public comments and is soon to announce an important national document.
