TRPMA invited Dr Calvin Chen, President of the TWi Pharmaceuticals, to give a speech on “the market competition mechanism based on patent linkage in the US drug market”. An audience of 70 people attended this event, including representatives of drug companies and officials from the TFDA, the CDE and the IPO. Dr Chen explained the background of the implementation of the patent linkage system under the Hatch-Waxman Act in the US, and talked about practical issues, such as the Orange Book, the judicial system, drug developer’s product cycle polices and relevant lawsuit cases. Dr Chen’s speech was received with enthusiasm.
